Founded in Belgium in 1976, the ATEE is the oldest non-profit organisation in Europe dedicated to research and practice in the field of teacher education and professional development. It brings together members – distinguished researchers and practitioners – from over 40 countries, working within 19 thematic networks known as Research and Development Communities (RDCs).
ATEE members are actively involved in numerous research projects and regularly publish monographs with prestigious academic publishers such as Springer and Routledge. Notably, the ATEE also publishes its own peer-reviewed journal: the European Journal of Teacher Education (Taylor and Francis Group).
An important aspect of the Association’s activity is its three annual conferences – winter, spring, and annual – which provide a platform for scholars and practitioners from around the world to discuss the most current issues in teacher education, professional development, and teachers’ day-to-day work.
